Digital Imagery 2018 (Orthophoto)
These "orthophoto" data were captured in spring 2018 as part of the GIS Service's Department's Digital Imagery Program. Several hundred full-colour photographs were captured from the air and combined together to produce an overall picture of the entire City of Kingston. The 2018 orthophotos are some of the highest quality imagery produced to date with each pixel representing ~20cm on the ground.
Due to the large size of these data, they are divided into coverage “tiles” across the city for ease of use and download. We are working to make these data available for immediate download and we expect this work to be completed in 2019.
To download the raw orthophotography files (format .TIF) for a specific area of interest (e.g., region of the city or specific location), please send a request using the City's Contact Us form with a subject of "Open Data Request".
Someone from the Open Data Kingston team will be in touch ASAP.
